Dawn wins the Douglas Robb!

Posted on October 9

Approximately 80 players competed in this year's handicap knockout with the two finalists eventually whittled down to Dawn Emmerson and Ken Mason. Dawn was just the second lady in the history of the event to have reached the final and receiving just 8 shots from Ken it was always set up to be a close-run affair.

Weather conditions could not have been any better - sunny, warm and calm conditions prevailed throughout the day. Ken got off to an amazing start in holing his 2nd shot on the first hole (379 yards par 4). He climbed to two up before being pegged back by Dawn to turn through 9 holes one down. Ken won the 10th with a par and the 11th was halved before Dawn won 12 and 13 to go 2 up. Dawn eventually claimed the match on the 16th hole, winning 3&2 to become the first lady winner of this prestigious knockout.

Many thanks must of course go to Mandy Wright (Ladies' Captain - pictured centre) for refereeing the final.
