PGC Ladies win the Gammon Trophy!
Perranporth Ladies were victorious in the ladies’ county scratch, Gammon Trophy, final against St. Mellion at Trevose on Sunday 11th September.
Missing young Danielle Price due to England squad selection, this was a hard-fought 5-2 victory: Jan Sargeant lost narrowly to England international Sammy Giles on the 18th.; Jo Rysdale, playing Meg Giles, had another tight match but this time it was Jo who won on the 18th, one up; Nikki Hodge, County captain, played Donna Weekes and secured her match on the 16th; Lauren Hulston had another hard match going all the way to the 18th, but losing. So, after four matches it was all square. Vicky Lee-Comyn won her match on the 18th thereby putting us back in the lead. Ladies’ Captain, Jackie Mallett, had a convincing win over Sam Peach 6/5 to clinch overall victory before Angie Chapman put the icing on the cake with a 2/1 win over Sue Weymouth. Bev Vann was the team reserve having won her match in the semi-final.
