Perranporth Club Championships
Blustery conditions, with winds up to 30mph on Saturday, greeted the players on Saturday 19th August as the competitors lined up to play in the two day Club Championships. The elements certainly made the scoring difficult.
The leader in the men’s scratch competition at the end of the day was the clubs County champion Conor Wilson who shot a steady level par 72, closely pursued by Simon Knowles and Leigh Hammond.
In the Ladies event Jan Sargeant led the way with a 79 with Jo Rysdale, Jackie Mallet and Danielle Price in hot pursuit.
Sunday’s conditions, were somewhat of an improvement on the Saturday, although not by much! The wind dropped slightly, changed 180 degrees from the Saturday, and squally showers adding to the test! This certainly didn’t daunt Conor Wilson who shot an excellent 70 (16 pars and two birdies) followed by Sandy Kirton with a fine 73 and Graham Burn with a 75. Jan Sargeant followed her 1st round with an excellent 74.
